what is it?
The BDe 4/4II were motorcar electric multiple units built in the 1950s for the Swiss Federal Railway for service on the La Plaine - Geneva line. The line was not electrified to Swiss standard (15 kV 16+2⁄3 Hz AC), but to the southeastern French 1.5 kV DC standard, so most Swiss rolling stock could not be used. They retired from operation in 1995.
