what is it?
X10 is a series of two-car electric multiple units which was formerly operated by Greater Stockholm Transport (SL) on the Stockholm commuter rail between 1983 and 2017, when the City Line project made them incompatible with the X60 train sets. The X10 was operated in sets of up to five twin units, making ten-car trains, each unit consisting of one motor car and one unpowered car. They were completely compatible with the X1 introduced in the 1960s.

base stats
Bars compare against all trains: 600 km/h (maglev), 1,700 seats; power, weight and number built on a log scale up to 20 MW, 1,000 t and 20,000 built.
fun facts
- First built 44 years ago, in 1982.
- Top speed is 1.1× a car on the Dutch motorway (130 km/h).
- 1.3 MW is about 15 family cars (~85 kW each) flat out.
- Weighs about as much as 17 African elephants (~6 t each).
- 49.9 m long: about 11 cars parked nose to tail.
- Seats 184: 4 full city buses (~50 seats each).
- Served for 42 years (1982–2024).
multiple unit: A self-propelled train: motors are spread under the passenger cars, so no separate locomotive.
