what is it?
Pesa Elf (an abbreviation of Electric Low Floor) is a family of electric multiple unit trains developed by Polish rolling-stock manufacturer Pesa SA. Elf feature a low floor design, intended for railway stations with platforms below 55 cm (22 in), improving accessibility and reducing boarding times. The trains are designed for regional, commuter, and long distance services, with different variants tailored to their intended use. There are three classes of Elf trains; Elf I, Elf II, Elf.eu and the Elf III—used as a trade name for diesel multiple units of Pesa (such as the Pesa Link) targeting markets outside of Poland.

- Top speed is 1.5× a car on the Dutch motorway (130 km/h).
- At full speed it would cover Amsterdam–Utrecht (≈ 40 km) in 13 minutes.
- 3.2 MW is about 38 family cars (~85 kW each) flat out.
multiple unit: A self-propelled train: motors are spread under the passenger cars, so no separate locomotive.
