what is it?
The Odakyu 2000 series (小田急2000形, Odakyū 2000-gata) is a commuter electric multiple unit (EMU) train operated by the private railway operator Odakyu Electric Railway in the Tokyo area of Japan since March 1995. Nine 8-car sets in total were manufactured between 1995 and 2001 in three batches. The design was based on the earlier 1000 series sets, with most of the passenger doors widened from 1,300 to 1,600 mm (51 to 63 in) to help reduce station dwell times.

base stats
Bars compare against all trains: 600 km/h (maglev), 1,700 seats; power, weight and number built on a log scale up to 20 MW, 1,000 t and 20,000 built.
fun facts
- First built 31 years ago, in 1995.
- 2.8 MW is about 33 family cars (~85 kW each) flat out.
- Weighs about as much as 43 African elephants (~6 t each).
- 20.2 m long: about 4 cars parked nose to tail.
- Seats 1,240: 25 full city buses (~50 seats each).
- Still in service after 31 years.
multiple unit: A self-propelled train: motors are spread under the passenger cars, so no separate locomotive.
