Central Mediterranean (Libya/Tunisia – Italy/Malta)
IOM recorded 996 people dead or missing on the Central Mediterranean route by 15 Sept 2026, up from 844 in the same period of 2025, even though arrivals there fell by 55%. Restore search-and-rescue capacity and open safe routes.
