Lower Gouda's inner-city groundwater level to stop subsidence damage

Gouda and Rijnland are working on 'Gouda Stevige Stad': lowering the water level in the lowest, subsiding parts of the historic centre by 25 cm. Sewers, water-level barriers and a pumping station must be ready first, and the first level reduction is expected in 2027.
